WHICH CHARITY ARE YOU RUNNING FOR AND WHY?
Running for Alex Hulme Foundation – a really inspirational charity – small and local chosen by the MLP team as our charity of the year for 2015. Alex’s parent’s are doing a great job raising funds for research into Non Hodgkin Lymphoma and we’re proud to be able to support the charity.

Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital Charity – a personal charity – my son spent many months in the hospital recovering form a brain tumour when he was 8 months’ old. I’ve experienced the great work the hospital does first hand and also felt the reach of the charity.

HAVE YOU EVER RAN A MARATHON BEFORE? IF SO, HOW WILL THE MANCHESTER MARATHON COMPARE? IF NOT, WHAT MADE YOU DO IT THIS YEAR?
Ran the Manchester Marathon two years ago and swore I’d never do it again. Watched last year and decided I was on the wrong side of the railings. This is my last marathon!

BEST TRAINING TIP FOR OTHER RUNNERS?
Pace, pace, pace. The race is long and in the end it’s only with yourself.

WHAT TIME ARE YOU AIMING FOR THIS YEAR?
Really tough one. 4 hrs 5mins. Should I go for 4 hours and risk burn out? #beatstephen

WHERE ON THE ROUTE WILL FRIENDS AND FAMILY BE CHEERING YOU ON?
I’m not sure yet. Am hoping I have a few dotted around the course. Stretford, Sale, Altrincham (The office in Altrincham is opening and the team will be handing out jelly beans and cheering the runners on). I can also have a half time refuel and pep talk. Family will be at the finish line!

IF YOU CAN MAKE IT OUT AFTER THE RUN – WHERE WILL YOU BE DRINKING / EATING AFTERWARDS?
IF?! Probably the Market house #honestcrust for a well deserved pizza!

HAVE YOU EVER RAN A MARATHON BEFORE? IF SO, HOW WILL THE MANCHESTER MARATHON COMPARE? IF NOT, WHAT MADE YOU DO IT THIS YEAR?
Manchester shall be my 25th marathon. After running races all around Europe including Rome, Berlin and Amsterdam, Im looking forward to running past some familiar sights

BEST TRAINING TIP FOR OTHER RUNNERS?
If you have a target time, try and run close to the pace runners, they have big flags on back packs with times on, so if you want to do a sub 4hr, for example, keep up with them and they’ll help you get around.

WHAT TIME ARE YOU AIMING FOR THIS YEAR?
Its supposedly fast and flat, so I’d like to break my sub 3hr duck for the first time

WHERE ON THE ROUTE WILL FRIENDS AND FAMILY BE CHEERING YOU ON?
Mainly at the start and finish, if they don’t get distracted by the Trafford Centre nearby!!

IF YOU CAN MAKE IT OUT AFTER THE RUN – WHERE WILL YOU BE DRINKING / EATING AFTERWARDS?
As an Aston Villa fan, somewhere showing the FA Cup Semi Final!!

The Window Co Running

BUSINESS: The Window Company

WHICH CHARITY ARE YOU RUNNING FOR AND WHY?
The Alex Hulme Foundation
https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/thewindowco

I will be taking part in this years marathon by running half the route with friend & business owner Paul Taylor of The Fat Loaf Restaurant in Ashton On Mersey.

The run is part of our WashRockRun fundraising push for The Alex Hulme Foundation who are our chosen Charity 2015. Wash = washing cars, Rock = Rock gig & Run = Manchester Marathon & we’re also running the Mcr 10k.

BEST TRAINING TIP FOR OTHER RUNNERS?
Use an app like Run Keeper so you can track time & pace. This will help you run further & faster & keep you motivated to beat those times & distances.

WHAT TIME ARE YOU AIMING FOR THIS YEAR?
I’m aiming for 1.40 for the Half Marathon.

WHERE ON THE ROUTE WILL FRIENDS AND FAMILY BE CHEERING YOU ON?
My Family will be on the Junction of Eastway/Washway Rd in Sale but I’m sure il see plenty of familiar faces around the route to cheer us on.

IF YOU CAN MAKE IT OUT AFTER THE RUN – WHERE WILL YOU BE DRINKING / EATING AFTERWARDS?
I think my family are going to meet me in Altrincham after the race for a well deserved Pint & lots of carbs. If I can make it a walk to the market if not the Slug & Lettuce.

WHICH CHARITY ARE YOU RUNNING FOR AND WHY?
Alex hume foundation

In March 2011 Alex was diagnosed with B-Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. His treatment worked well in the early stages, yet Alex’s cancer returned in late June and although he responded well again, he lost his six month battle and passed away on Monday September 5th 2011.

There has been no funding made available into the causes and treatment of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in Children.

Over 80% of children survive the disease but unfortunately Alex wasn’€™t one of them so there is still a long way to go before the target of a 100% survival rate is reached.

HAVE YOU EVER RAN A MARATHON BEFORE? IF SO, HOW WILL THE MANCHESTER MARATHON COMPARE? IF NOT, WHAT MADE YOU DO IT THIS YEAR?
Yes i have ran 3 previous marathons including the manchester one before, its a fantastic event with A superb course full of people supporting

BEST TRAINING TIP FOR OTHER RUNNERS?
Use a running app or GPS tracking watch in training to pace yourself properly and dont start out too fast, as the old saying goes ‘its a marathon not a sprint. Also train as close to the 26.2 as possible say 24 miles

WHAT TIME ARE YOU AIMING FOR THIS YEAR?
This time i am running as part of a 2 man relay and am only doing the 1/2 but hoping to complete in about 1 hr 30 give or take, my previous full marathon time is 3hr 28.

WHERE ON THE ROUTE WILL FRIENDS AND FAMILY BE CHEERING YOU ON?
I am a timperley boy so my wife and children will be handing out jelly babies & orange wedges in the Village

IF YOU CAN MAKE IT OUT AFTER THE RUN – WHERE WILL YOU BE DRINKING / EATING AFTERWARDS?
Will probably go into my favourite bar ‘Mort Subite’ on greenwood street for a beer (or 2) then go and see Neil from Great North Pies in the Market hall for some proper stodge!
